IW BOOSTER CLUB MINUTES – November 18, 2015 Meeting

Members present included Anne Carney, Mike Carney, Heather Frank, Lisa McMillan, Trixie Pankey, Cathy Crego, Stacy Connor, Mr. Ehmen and Coach Waz.

MINUTES:   October 2015 minutes were reviewed.  Mike Carney moved to approve the minutes; Heather seconded, all in favor – motion carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Cathy presented the treasurer’s report for the month of October.  Heather moved to approve the treasurer’s report, Mike seconded, all in favor – motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

BRICKS FUNDRAISER:   Stacy gave an update.   The bricks fundraiser will be a long-term project.  The plan is to continue articles and promoting it through the winter.

SUNKEN GARDENS:  Mike gave an update.  The money authorized at the last meeting was spent on fertilizer, etc.

NEW BUSINESS 

PORK PRODUCERS DONATION:   The booster club gave $150 donation last year.   Cathy moved to donate $150 to the Pork Producers; Heather seconded the motion.   All in favor.

MS STUDENT COUNCIL/CONCESSIONS:  Heather gave an update on the middle school concessions.   She explained it was going well, volunteers are stepping up.   She also shared that the middle school student council is doing half-court shooting contests at half time and they have had great participation.  They would like to give away t-shirts.   Trixie moved to donate eleven shirts to the middle school student council so that they can give them out at half time (11 t-shirts includes 4 youth large, 4 adult small, 3 adult medium).   Cathy seconded the motion; all in favor.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL EQUIPMENT:   Mr. Ehmen informed the booster club that the middle school volleyball net system is broken.  This must be in working order to host games.  Mike moved to purchase a new volleyball system at $1,716.49.   Heather seconded the motion; all in favor.

SPORTS AWARDS/TROPHY DONATIONS:   The district pays up to $35 for each sport to spend toward awards.   In the past, on occasion, the booster club has offered to pay for costs exceeding the $35 amount.   The booster club requests that Mr. Meyer, as AD, educate the coaches on distributing awards and the costs for such awards.   Cathy moved to pay the $28 for additional volleyball awards.   Heather seconded; all in favor.   The booster club tabled the topic of future donations for sports awards to the next booster club meeting.

HOLIDAY HOOPS TOURNAMENT:   The football team will work concessions on the Saturday of Holiday Hoops at Gilman.   The golf team will do Monday games at both Gilman and Onarga.   Anne will ask the Rifle Club.   (The Rifle Club worked Mr. Raider Night.)   Anne will also ask boys basketball and cheerleaders.

Sports Programs for Next Year

Team for Sports Programs (Rotation)

Outside Concession Stand Chairperson for next school year

ROUND TABLE:

Ideas on what to do with old apparel were discussed.   Suggestion made to have a close out sale at registration.  $5, $10, $20 on various items that have been sold for several years.

Fence art:   Youth football is willing to pay toward the fence art on the north end of the football field. Stacy will print it out for Anne and Anne will talk to Mr. Meyer.  (“Raider Nation” suggested for the design)

It was mentioned that the plaque on the cabinet for the girls’ basketball trophy says donated by Zirkle Construction.

Cathy moved to adjourn.
